My Healing Journey: It Began with Breast Cancer

I was under a tremendous amount of stress. My partner was diagnosed with progressive cerebellum disfunction. She progressively started to lose her ability to write, and then to walk. We went through a lot with her illness -- always in and out of the hospitals, intensive care units (ICUs), and long-term acute care hospitals. She progressively became solely dependent on me for everything. She was estranged from her family.  At the end, she would lay in our living room with a tracheotomy and a respirator.  We had an ICU in our living room where she passed away. I took some time to grieve at a friend’s house, and within two weeks after her death, I was showering and found a lump in my right breast. I was so scared that my whole body went numb.

My worst fear was realized when my doctor confirmed that I did, in fact, have breast cancer. I went through radiation, chemotherapy and a lumpectomy and had 17 lymph nodes removed.  As I reflected over what was happening, I knew I did not care for myself in the ways I needed. I recognized that I was living my life almost identically to the way my mother lived her life.  I was doing with my partner, the same things my mother would do with my father.  She was anxiety ridden because of my father’s alcoholism, and I was anxiety ridden because of my partner’s disease. My mother escaped into her work, and I also escaped into mine.  My mother died from advanced stage breast cancer that metastasized, and I was just diagnosed with breast cancer. I knew innately that the thoughts that I was having was causing my dis-ease, although I did not know how to change.

I knew that I wanted to be well, and I would do just about anything to be well.  Gilda’s club is a cancer support group for anyone going through cancer. This group is now called Cancer Support Community of North Texas. I met lots of people there; it is a beautiful community. It is a place of refuge during a confusing and lonely time. I was supported and felt nurtured at Gilda’s. I expressed and could self-reflect by telling my story to others. I hoped that I could comfort others going through what I had gone through and inspire others to realize there is hope.   We are in this together. I made meaningful and lasting relationships there: some who have passed away and some that I will be friends with for the rest of my life. I realized during all of this that the connection with people is so meaningful and so nourishing and enriching.

Gilda’s club offered different things like classes, lectures, art, and yoga. I faithfully signed up for several activities including a lecture on the topic of permanent healing given by a teacher at the School of Metaphysics. The speaker talked about how our thoughts manifest in the body as either ease or dis-ease.  I became aware that if I could change the way I thought about myself, my life, and others, my body would also change. I wanted to know and learn more, so I signed up for a Mastery of Consciousness class at the School of Metaphysics.

The School of Metaphysics coursework is structured to be a weekly class where I had classmates and a teacher who lovingly led us through a series of lessons, and mental and energetic exercises to aid us to go within.  The first one was a self-respect exercise. This was great because I had not really been looking at myself or giving myself my own attention. The self-respect exercise taught me to look within myself so that I could see me in a new and fresh light. Through this exercise, I was able to look deep into my soul knowing that I was much more than this physical experience.

We also focused on dreams and dream interpretation. I learned that dreams are messages from our inner self and each week, we interpreted them. Our dreams can aide us to know ourselves on deeper levels and can be incredibly nourishing when you listen. Dreams are a big part of this course of study. Another profound mental exercise we practiced is a concentration exercise. This one was the clincher. I was learning exactly what was going on in my mind and how to change it. My consciousness was shifting changing for the better. I learned how to see my emotions and inform them. I was grateful to know my emotions were a guide to lead me to my core negative beliefs. For instance, anger, sadness, and frustration may lead me to a thought or belief such as “I can’t make it work.” For this reason, it was good to have a teacher who kept us on track. We would do these exercises and come back to class and talk about our experiences. This was amazing to me. The exercises are mind blowing. The daily practice supported me to slow my thoughts down to perceive what was going on in my own head so that I could change what was inhabiting my mind.

Those negative core beliefs were replaced with thoughts/beliefs like, “I can do this.” This was the key to my healing.

The practice of concentration was aimed to prepare me for deeper meditations.  Before practicing concentration, my mind and body was so busy.  I was learning how to slow the mind and body down so that I could be calm and relaxed to mediate. I do not believe that I could have had deep meditations if I had not prepared myself through my class studies. Meditation coupled with a separate practice of visualization encouraged my change.   I was on a journey inward to explore learning who I was as a physical being, and as a spiritual being. I was changing my DNA!  I learned to visualize who I wanted to become.   There is a special formula for this.   It is so thrilling to know we all are conscious creators; we are the captain of our ships. I had a burning desire for healing and wholeness and filled my thoughts with images to manifest that reality.

I chose to become Healing Class director to deepen my understanding of permanent healing.  I relied upon elements from a book entitled, “Permanent Healing,” by Dr. Daniel Condron.  This book reveals mental causes that produce physical effects in the body.  I have seen many healings occur.  In class, we create a healing field for distance healing every Sunday night at 7:30pm for anyone requesting service.  My own healing is magnified through serving in this way.

I have also taught a 10-week class entitled “Superconscious Healing.”  This short course will take you all the way back to infancy connecting the dots including your parents and how you can understand yourself on all levels to cause your own healing. I highly suggest this course. I have seen people heal mentally, emotionally, and physically though these healing modalities. I have been without cancer for over ten years and I am grateful for the opportunity that my studies have afforded me. I realize that I cannot control the future; however, I have ever growing confidence that I can continue to evolve my thoughts and beliefs to be in alignment with a healthy and whole me.  I have confidence that you can do this too.

Cosmic Weather 2015 year-end wrap up and 2016 Forecast

2015 Recap ~

I made a joke a few weeks ago on my Facebook page when I suggested that in response to 2015 that we begin 2016 with a “box of chocolates, a good cry and a vacation.” 😉 Though it was a good giggle, it turned out plenty of people have shared my sentiment. It seems like a lot of the hope and magic we were hoping for regarding 2015 didn’t exactly happen anywhere close to how we imagined it. In my own life, I faced some challenges that I referred to as “Jedi Skills Training” and that’s not far from the truth. I was shown in greater depth about the nature of energy – both positive and negative. It did however, inspire a new book “The Aquarian Empath, Part 2.” So that was the gold to come from that particular shadow, which was also a recurring theme in the collective. One of my wise friends predicted that despite how rough around the edges we may be feeling at the end of this unusual and enigmatic year, we would end it on a high note. I agree. How so? This year has shown us many things; primarily how strong that we can be especially when we are united as one family of love. It takes bigger storms to knock us over these days. It hasn’t exactly been a cakewalk gaining strength and greater awareness, but the rewards are great and will continue to pay dividends for us in the future.

The second return of Saturn in Scorpio: challenges and gifts

Last Summer we saw another pass of Saturn in Scorpio. Plenty of my astrologer friends noted that upon its return it was wearing army boots and ready to rumble and that it did. I had a feeling by the time we were through with that particular Saturn cycle we would view death and losses differently and for the most part, many of us have. The Buddhist practice of impermanence really hit home this year and for some, very close to the bone. This in combination with Chiron and Neptune in Pisces has definitely increased psychic sensitivity in the Collective. I had some very interesting conversations about my experiences in Spirit with some pretty unlikely folks this year, which has demonstrated a greater openness to another reality after physical transition as a more generally accepted concept.

One of the great gifts of this intense and fast moving year is a rarified form of *presence.* That is what so many big and little “deaths” will do for you, personally and collectively. It’s a kind of presence that couldn’t be made, but had to be born. I’ve often said before that it’s a matter of feeling like there is no time to waste. Before the new age contingency has at it, that statement is more allegorical than literal. Besides in the physical world time still does exist in a fashion, though even that as a concept is changing too.

Death is nothing at all. I have only slipped away to the next room. I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that, we still are. Call me by my old familiar name. Speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference into your tone. Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Play, smile, think of me.

Pray for me. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was. Let it be spoken without effect. Without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same that it ever was. There is absolute unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am but waiting for you. For an interval. Somewhere. Very near. Just around the corner. All is well. – Henry Scott Holland (1847-1918)

Breakups, loves lost and regained ~

I boogied in the ballroom, I boogied in the dark. Make you sweat, make you scream, make you wish you’d never been. I lost a lot of love over you. – Jagger/Richards

I heard about a lot of breakups this year and not just the romantic kind. Long term professional associations dissolved, family issues exploded and long lost lovers returned to even the playing field.

Venus (recently in Scorpio) may have brought out some jealous or obsessive behavior in some, but on the up side it has brought healing and negotiation where it simply was not possible before.

The big shifts in this area may be contributing to the “What the ___ was that?!” reaction and the integration time that is often required. This in my opinion is par for the course in a “8” Universal Year which is associated with magnification and that can also include karma.

Looking ahead at 2016

Interestingly 2016 is a “9” Universal Year which is classically associated with completion, rest, possible grief and disappointment. It is the culmination of all the preceding numbers that came before it. It is a significant “reset point” before the start of a new “1” cycle. More esoteric aspects of the 9 include humanitarianism and service to the all. It is the flip side of the “6” which is associated with love and care of one’s family and immediate circle to take it to a more universal level and a broader circle. Also, wisdom, accomplishment, and the attaining of one’s goals.

The number 9 is also interesting in terms of popular culture in songs such as “Cloud 9” by the Temptations and “Number 9 Dream” by Lennon and “Revolution #9” attributed to Lennon/McCartney/Ono. John Lennon was known to have a particular fascination with the number. It also has an association over the years with otherworldliness, freedom from suffering and a dreamlike quality.

I wanna say I love the life I live. And I’m gonna live the life I love. Up here on Cloud 9, I’m riding high. – Temptations

It is related to the 9th card in Tarot which is “The Hermit.” The Hermit is also associated with the search for truth, inner light and also the willingness to share acquired knowledge with others. He carries a staff and lantern in the form of the six-pointed star, both symbols of power and initiation. The astrological signs associated with both the 9 and The Hermit are Aquarius and Virgo.

2016 is a pivotal year in the unfolding of peace and abundance upon Gaia. Lightworkers continue to hold the line of Light.

Lightworkers are also Peacekeepers. They do not “make” peace per se, but further anchor the reality of peace as a true spiritual state. Though the “9” Universal Year vibration is often associated with completion, it also sets the stage for an entirely new vibration and cycle. You will especially see this “ramp up” in the second half of the year starting with the 8/8 Gateway. – The Keepers, 12/30/15

2016 is also the Year of the Red Fire Monkey in the Chinese Calendar. The Chinese New Year begins on 2/8/16. Interestingly, the Monkey is the ninth sign in Chinese astrology. The main attributes of the monkey are: ambition, mischief, activity and adventure. Maybe this is the year that we get more control of the “monkey mind?” The Hermit and Monkey are energies that upon first glance don’t naturally fit together, but as in many astro-cosmic combinations we have yet to see the synergy that will unfold. The Monkey is also associated with change and quantum leaps. This will definitely be a year to continue to “take our act on the road” as the Keepers have referred to in terms of our talents, gifts and offerings. We’re ready for those new leaps and bounds, and we need not let old fears and limitations hold us back any longer.

In the last three years especially, we have been shown the limitations and potency of our own fears, thoughts and projections. We have a growing knowledge that while our own individual worlds are important and still so important to us, our own contribution to the collective is also known and understood. In 2016 what are we bringing to the table of humanity in our own unique form of service?

Wishing you all a blessed and beautiful New Year!

Creating Within Consciousness

Something you may not realize is that your soul puts out an energy vibration. The emotions within you put out a very specific energy vibration. When you put out a very specific energy vibration, you are putting a call out to other souls in the world who wish to create a similar experience to whatever it is you may be vibrating. I’ve talked a lot throughout this book about healing wounds so you can learn and grow. When you hold on to pain in your life, your vibration puts out a call to individuals who will appear in your life to help you release that pain or otherwise come to terms with it. If you don’t like that idea, there is a solution. Try understanding the pain that you carry and make every effort to heal it, forgive yourself, forgive others involved and then let it go.

If you are working towards healing and your vibration is cleaning up, you put out a different kind of call in the world. A healthier vibration will call out to you healthier individuals. You’ve heard the term, “Like attracts like” right? If you have your act cleaned up you will end up attracting to you other souls who also have their act cleaned up and maybe even those that are far beyond where you are, spiritually speaking. No matter where we are, we can always run across souls that share a vibration that we have known in the past (this life or others) or a current vibration. When people come into our lives, they answer our call and we mutually answer theirs. In this life, we create the situations we face but through illusion and delusion, we do not do this consciously. We unconsciously create. So, if you understand a little bit more about your vibration and the energy you emanate, you can start to become aware of the way you are unconsciously creating. When you can cross that threshold of understanding you can go on to the next step and that is consciously creating.

Honestly, it all starts within us and how we feel, along with what we believe about this world and ourselves. If we are optimistic, open to abundance, have high integrity and morals, are compassionate and loving with others and ourselves, chances are we will be consciously creating in the positive. It is possible to put the call out to the universe for new cars, better jobs, bigger bank accounts, etc. but those are only material things and to create them, there is a cost. Whenever you are engaging in spiritual practice from an ego-centric view point, your creations may at first tend to be fleeting and shallow. Not that we are not entitled to nice cars, sufficient means and nice houses, its your motivation that drives your results. What do you want it for? Be very clear in your meaning when you put the call out to the universe to bring you something. If your focus is off-based in any way or overly ego-focused, you will never be satisfied with what you create or manifest in your life. If, however, your motivation is pure and you remain in alignment with your own honor, honesty and integrity, the things you create are likely to be more substantial and meaningful.

There are so many commercialized spiritual messages out there that encourage the uninitiated to just manifest at will without giving a true and thorough thought to the state of your spirit and healing first. Without these very important and firm bases for your creations, you can run into some unanticipated trouble. To avoid this, be conscious of the state of your spirit and align your thoughts in the positive, see your creations truly through the eyes of love and feel the beauty of abundance coming to you.

I mentioned a bit about when you are healed you begin to call to you people that also vibrate at a higher vibration. This does not mean that entities not as evolved as you are on the journey won’t come into your lives and begin to cause trouble or interesting lessons for you. However, with a higher vibration and greater internal healing and confidence, you will deal with these situations in a more loving and compassionate manner with less long-lasting harm for you. Your focus is so important. Don’t skip a step just because it is painful. Those on a quest for understanding life, themselves and their place in this world should be willing to do the work necessary to get there. If you’re not willing to do the work you might as well go back to sleep and continue dreaming as you have been. I do not mean to seem unkind and please forgive me if this message is harsh but we have to really want something to get it. We demonstrate what we want by working towards it in appropriate and healthy ways to get there. Making sure we are not creating at the expense of others is so important. We are so powerful and we truly can create enough for all. But then, there is free will and the varying vibrations, lessons and journeys of others differ and they can choose as they wish to or, well, not.

It’s important that we focus on what we are calling out to the universe to bring us both consciously and unconsciously. It really matters more than I can convey. Give it some thought, careful thought and then put your call out there for what you truly want in this world. You already know how to create it but are learning to remember how good it feels to create consciously. Just enjoy life and love as you do it and you will have greater opportunity to be satisfied in the end.  (89)

A Word of Caution for the Conscientious

The Oxford Dictionary (Web), defines the word Conscientious as follows:

Conscientious - adjective
1(Of a person) wishing to do what is right, especially to do one’s work or duty well and thoroughly: a conscientious and hardworking clerk

2Relating to a person’s conscience: the act does not provide exemption from service on the basis of personal conscientious beliefs

Origin (for those who are curious):  early 17th century: from French consciencieux, from Medieval Latin conscientiosus, from Latin conscientia (see conscience).

Derivatives:

·      Conscientiously – adverb
·      Conscientiousness - noun

Not every human being on the planet has a well-developed Conscientiousness.  For those who have a well-developed Conscientiousness or an even deeper sense, empathy, those lacking conscience can either unintentionally or intentionally exploit your Conscientiousness.  If you’ve ever given this any thought, you may have already come to this conclusion.  An interesting thought to me is how we typically deal with the ensuing conflict when we encounter individuals out of sync with our own level of Conscientiousness.  When we have a fairly well-developed sense of Conscientiousness, we may hold this mistaken belief that if we are Conscientious, that others are or should be as well.  Not so.  As we live our lives dealing with the conflict of our beliefs and the Truth of reality in the absence of understanding, we may become quite conflicted.  This conflict within us may have us wishing, “If only this person did this” or maybe, “If only that person would just do that, then I could or would be happy, fine or content.”  This is where we do ourselves a great disservice in a number of ways.  I’d like to count them for you because I think (notice I did not say “believe”) with greater understanding we can expand our awareness and compassion.  These two things are important to our well-being in ways that are worth understanding.

The Ways:
1.     Just because a thought comes from within our own heads, it does not make it true.  Given this, our beliefs would have us think that everyone should be conscientious but the truth is, they are not.
2.     Every person on this Earth has some things in common and many things uncommon in terms of experience, psychology, and this list, well, is endless.
3.     If we walked through our lives hanging our only capability of finding happiness on the behavior of others in accord with the way we might behave, we’re headed for a life of pure anxiety, anger, sadness and even depression.
4.     If you are conscientious or even empathic, you may positively project that onto others believing they are what they are not which may set you up, again, for an uncomfortable emotional fall.

Now, considering all of the above and it is really a list that could go on into eternity, it might seem a reasonable approach to become very fearful and distrusting of others.  That is certainly an option but how would taking that approach support a true sense of well-being for you?  I’ll say that it is a fairly reasonable approach to life if you’ve experienced many disappointments through interactions with your fellow human beings (truly your brothers and sisters).  However, I suggest to you there is yet a better way.  That way or path is the path of understanding, acceptance, forgiveness and compassion.  When you realize that we may extend from the same Source in origin but that our consciousness diverges based on our individuation and focus here in 3rd dimensional reality, you come to understand that every one may operate similarly at some basic levels of maybe biology or psychology but we all operate very differently spiritually or metaphysically speaking.

That fact, that we may operate differently, is beautiful and perfect even if we learn the truth painfully at times.  We learn the most from others in some very interesting ways.  Let me explain to you a little bit of a theory I have about malware, meaning in the context of this article the emotionally and energetically charged beliefs in our mostly unconscious memories.  I’ll break it down in summary to help explain:

  • We have all had some form of experience while in a fragile state of mind.  Perhaps it was while we were very young and just learning to work within the confines of this world.  Maybe the state occurred later in life.
  • That experience may have created in you a belief that was either negative about you or about the inhabitants of or even your own existence in this world.
  • Depending on the depth and severity of the thoughts generating emotion resulting in an energetic charge attached to the belief (whether true or not), that emotionally charged belief was stored in your memory.
  • This emotionally and energetically charged belief stored as an unconscious memory changed the way you operated in this world.  In a way, it changed the way you operate within the confines of conscious awareness in this life.
  • Any belief that formed around wounding will in time move to the level of consciousness beneath the awake and aware state.  Dr. Sigmund Freud referred to this consciousness as latent consciousness (meaning that which is unconscious with the possibility of rising to consciousness).  The memory of the belief and the emotional and energetic charge attached to it will still be active in terms of how your thought processes work but since the original belief has drifted below aware consciousness, you are no longer consciously aware of it.
  • The amazing minds and physical forms that we hold will always seek a state of homeostasis (study biology and learn some amazing things).
  • If you have an emotionally and energetically charged belief stored in your unconscious memory, you will seek to heal it through the interactions with people in this world or situations that will brush that emotionally and energetically charged belief in the form of a trigger.
  • When you become triggered, you may be acting from the basis of a belief that was not true or that you didn’t even know existed.  When in a triggered state, you may even wonder, “Why am I reacting like this?” or “Why do I feel like this?
  • Until you find your emotional and energetically charged beliefs stored in the level of consciousness below your awareness, you will continually be surrounded by people and situations that will trigger you.
  • This process, while it may sound complex or even far-fetched for some, is actually quite perfect and amazing.  It is more evidence of our innate ability to heal ourselves and to do so individually and perfectly for each of us.  In a sense, we all have some form of malware that we are unconsciously seeking to heal.  This may create the various differentiations between our levels of conscientiousness as we live our days on planet Earth.

Consider this, if you will.  If you are a Conscientious individual, you can think about how others may feel before you act.  You have developed a very good thinking simulation process whereby your mind can rapidly take in lots of data and information, consider the feelings and situations of others and then act in ways that coincide with what you feel deep within is the right way to act.  But think about it for just a moment, why are you conscientious?  Are you just a very aware person or have you had to learn to be 3 steps ahead of others in order to protect yourself emotionally?  Both are perfectly fine and can actually be exactly the same but regardless, in a world where not everyone operates at the same level, Conscientious individuals need to exercise caution.  I say they need to exercise caution because those that are not Conscientious and who may even completely lack any scruples at all due to their own Life Lesson Plan, may exploit you.

So, how do you keep from being exploited or how do you prevent your own disappointment when people don’t behave kindly or maybe as considerately or gently as you do or would do?  There is an easy answer and a difficult answer.  The easy answer is by merely understanding that every one here in this Earth School, or simply the citizens of planet Earth, all operate at different levels of consciousness, have different emotionally and energetically charged beliefs (triggers) and will just act differently than you.  As for the difficult answer, well, you need to step way back and maybe go deeply within perhaps reaching for the metaphysical and spiritual perspectives to consider why we might be here at varying and different levels to begin with.  Consider that you may have come here for the opportunity to learn something.  Maybe that something was a challenging emotional existence fraught with tough life lessons.  What if your lesson plan was to learn to transcend your own triggers by learning to understand, love and hold compassion for the difficult path that every one here must take?  What if you are here to heal the wounds you planned to take on and so you find conflict where ever it is that you go not to wreck your world but to help you learn in better and more long-lasting ways?

The Caution for the Conscientious is to make sure you are aware in your thoughts that all here are learning and in different grades (and importantly, that no one grade or level is better than the other – just, perhaps, different).  Because we are all learning at different levels and in different ways, you must discover what it is you are learning from your own Conscientiousness.  Being Conscientious is wonderful and a great advantage as well as a wonderful way to learn life lessons.  It has beautiful rewards.  But if you hold the expectation that everyone should be as you are, you may be greatly disappointed.  Often times the conflict we think is coming at us from outside of us is actually coming from within us.  Taking a great leap into the metaphysical and spiritual perspective for a moment, we are creating what we experience whether we are consciously aware of it or not.  We will either continue to suffer the processes of our learning or we will learn and rise above.  Through awareness you can exercise caution in your thoughts, caution in your expectations and caution in your own behavior.  You can set boundaries within which you operate but realize those not on your path may crush them, or attempt to.  Understand that some people just can’t know what they don’t know and so will behave as they do until they learn.  You can appoint yourself their personal teacher if you want or you can simply step off of such battlefields without engaging in conflict.  You have free will and you will gain what you came here for.

This is a lot of food for thought, I realize.  If anything, my sincere desire is to paint a picture to illuminate some of the darker perspectives we may hold.  My intent is to open people up to the idea that what they think is True may be the biggest illusion they’ve ever held and all of this--existence, could easily be a simple, maddening or extraordinary dream.  I deeply appreciate all paths of learning and realize that the extent of my free will ends at these thoughts.  I share them for the purpose of presenting an alternative perspective that may cause individuals to think, feel and understand the importance of their existence here so that they may live with an increasing sense of ever unfolding well-being.
